Mauricio Venegas was born in 1978 in Montreal. He was introduced to music at a very early age and began to take classical guitar technique more seriously in 1995 with his first teacher Ivan Contreras. In the early years, he already had a strong interest in composition. He will also train with Andrés Samper, Roque Carbajo, José Harguindey as well as a few months with guitarist Alvaro Pierri. He also touches jazz with guitarist Mike Gauthier. In 2008, he completes a sound engineer training in Trebas and discovers studio work, midi language and the world of recording. Composer of numerous pieces for guitar, piano and a string quartet. He participates in many film music competitions such as the BIFSC in Berlin, the annual film competition of UQAM, the most recent BBC competition in collaboration with Spitfire. He is currently studying at the Université de Montréal, to enter the composition and writing program in 2021. His goal is to perfect his knowledge of writing for various instruments, particularly for orchestra and string quartet.
