EDUARDO IVÁN MANCERA

Born in Mexico City in 1980. He holds a degree in Guitar Instrumentalist from the Faculty of Music of the UNAM, and was a disciple of Gerardo Tamez, René Viruega, Óscar Cárdenas and Guillermo Flores Méndez who, as guitarists and composers, had a decisive influence on his future vocation. He also participated in Néstor Castañeda’s chamber music and Marco Antonio Anguiano’s guitar classes. He has been active as a concert guitarist since 1998, performing classical music by Mexican composers written for guitar with special attention to the compositions of Guillermo Flores Méndez. His aesthetic search has led him to study other musical traditions from which he draws inspiration for his own compositions (trova, jazz, salsa, fado and son jarocho). He has also experimented playing instruments related to the guitar such as the Portuguese guitar and the Cuban tres. Currently (2020) he is the musical director and singer of the salsa and Caribbean music group Néctar Café.
