SUZIE AUCLAIR

Suzie Auclair distinguished herself on the classical guitar at an early age by winning the Concours de Musique du Québec where she finished first at the age of 12. At the age of 13, she performed as a soloist with the Orchestre Symphonique de Québec.

She holds a Bachelor of Music degree in interpretation – classical guitar from the Université du Québec à Montréal under the direction of Alvaro Pierri and a Bachelor of Music degree in collective music teaching. She has taken master classes with David Russel, Manuel Barrueco, Roberto Aussel, Alexandre Lagoya, Wolfgang Lendel, Jakob Lindberg, Stepan Rak, Olivier Chassain.

Suzie Auclair has given numerous concerts and recitals throughout Quebec and in France. In 1998, she created the ensemble Amalgáma with which she toured extensively until 2008. In 2005, she produced and directed the album Brisa de Verano, which won numerous awards and received critical acclaim.

From 2008 to 2013, she founded and directed the festival Music on the River. Thanks to this festival, she is honoured in 2014 at the National Assembly of Quebec, where she receives the Municipal Merit Award in the “Citizen” category for her exceptional contribution to the development of the arts in her community.

Suzie Auclair has received grants from the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (2000 to 2005) in “Research and Creation” and “Development”.

In 2003, she founded the Suzie Auclair School of Music, which welcomes hundreds of students each year and has a team of nearly 20 teachers. Suzie Auclair is recognized for her teaching qualities and her progressive, evolutionary and dynamic teaching method.
